BLUE HOUR
BLUE HOUR is a solo acoustic piano concert set at dawn, illuminated only by the rising sun; a perpetually changing process that pianist-composer Alain Roche invites the audience to pause and experience.
At the heart of the experience is a single-movement piano composition titled SUMMER SOLSTICE.
Slowly evolving from the piece WINTER SOLSTICE – composed on an island beyond the Arctic Circle in Norway in 2022 – this score represents the culmination of a deep immersion in the cycle of the seasons, experienced over 182 consecutive dawns, outdoors.
With BLUE HOUR, Alain Roche bares himself, without artifice. A game played under the gaze of daylight.
