KATEDRAL

Pianist and composer Alain Roche teams up with percussionist Fred Bürki (Emilie Zoé, Sirens of Lesbos, Anna Aaron, Me&Moby, …) to present a piece for church organ, classical and electronic percussion in a single movement.

Drawing inspiration from the beats, grooves, and loops of electronic music, Alain Roche harnesses the sound material of the organ and percussion, plays with sound spatialisation, and offers listeners a musical immersion in a unique acoustic.

At the heart of this performance, a luminous thread unites the two musicians, positioned at opposite ends of the space, with the audience placed between them. This arrangement enhances an immersive sound spatialisation experience, where sounds blend and respond from one end of the space to the other.

KATEDRAL explores how two musicians, without seeing each other, manage to communicate within a space where reverberation leaves little room for sonic clarity. The lighting design by Mario Torchio adds a narrative visual dimension, plunging the audience into a red universe that bridges the baroque of the organ and the contemporary rhythms of electronic percussion.
